Like many of you, I used to walk into a store, restaurant, or shop and just pay whatever they asked. But one day, after saving thousands of dollars on a home-building project at Lowe’s and Home Depot, I had a realization:

Why wasn’t I asking for a military discount EVERYWHERE?

So, I started asking. And you wouldn’t believe how much I saved! Sure, at first, it felt awkward, but once I saw the savings pile up, it turned into a fun game—how much could I save? And better yet, what could I buy with those savings? 🚀

🏆 My Biggest Discount Wins!

✔ Mountain Bike Deal of the Year 🚲 – Living in Boise, Idaho, I needed a new bike for the beautiful local trails. I wanted a Trek, but the price tag was steep. So, I asked, “Do you offer a military discount?” The salesman said no—but I didn’t stop there. I searched online and 💥 BOOM—Specialized offers up to 40% off for military members! Do the math on an $8,000 bike! 🤯

✔ Mall Discounts? You Bet! 🛍️ – While shopping with my daughter, we got 20% off at Claire’s, then walked over to PacSun and saved another 10%. With the savings, we treated ourselves at Outback Steakhouse, where we scored another 10% off! 🎖️ Dad of the Year unlocked!

✔ Lowe’s vs. Home Depot – Know the Difference! 🏡 – Both stores offer 10% off for military, BUT Home Depot caps annual savings at $500 while Lowe’s has NO LIMIT. I was building a house—that knowledge saved me BIG! 💡

💡 Why I Built Troop Deals

After seeing how much money I was saving, I asked myself:

Why isn’t there an easy way to find these discounts?

I’ll admit—asking for discounts can feel awkward at first. But once you start seeing the savings, it becomes a fun challenge—how much can you save? And for those who don’t like asking, Troop Deals lists verified discounts so you can save without the hassle!
